DELTA State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, has reaffirmed strong partnership between the state government and Owners of Private Schools’ Association towards driving the education sector to a greater height.
Ezewu gave the assurances in her office in Asaba when the Owners of Private Schools Association, Delta State chapter paid her a courtesy visit.
She urged the association to contribute their quota to the education sector, adding that the reduction of the renewal fees for private school owners was for year 2020 .
Ezewu, lauded the association for their ceaseless support, saying that the ministry would continue to her best in sanitising the education system in the state.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro expressed worry over the proliferation of associations among stakeholders in the education sector.
Oghoro, who said that such development was unhealthy for the education sector, stressed the need for them to always come together as one body in order to achieve more success in the education system.
Earlier in her address, the Chairman of the Owners of Private Schools Association of Nigeria, Delta State chapter, Mrs. Purity Okeke congratulated the commissioner for her appointment by Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa.
Mrs. Okeke, who was represented by the chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the association and the owner of Greater Days Schools, Mr. Wilfred Akemuh said that the association came into being to enable them contribute to the upliftment of the standard of education in the state.
Present at the visit were the Director of Inspectorate and Quality Assurance, Comr. Ernest Ossai and the Director of Schools, Mrs. Clementina Ojumah .
High point of the event was the presentation of survennir to the commissioner.
