REV. Fr. Victor Ijeh, has urged Christians to depict their Christian faith with mercy.
Delivering a Homily on Sunday morning at the Catholic Church of the Ascension, Asaba, Delta State, Fr. Ijeh, noted that Christians must show mercy and forgive those who offends them.
He stated that as followers of Jesus Christ, Christians should always show love by their actions and be merciful.
“Be merciful as your Father is merciful.
“Our Lord is compassionate and gracious and as such, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you that you may become children of God.
“When people hate you, do not hate them, rather, show them love; do not retaliate, show them love.
“When Jesus was on the cross, He asked God to forgive those who crucified Him because they knew not what they were doing.
“Jesus said that we should love our enemies; be merciful as your Father is merciful.
“If we commit sin, we become enemies of God, but when we cry to God for forgiveness, He forgives us; so, we should be merciful because the measure you give is the measure you receive.
“Remember that He tells us that He prepares a table for us in the presence of our enemies, so, we should not be afraid or ashamed to show love.
“Learn to say, I am sorry and continue to live in peace,” Rev. Fr. Ijeh said.
The Holy Mass featured thanksgiving by parishioners.
