A Catholic Priest, Revd. Fr. John Konyeke, has called on Christians to make selfless sacrifice to the growth of Christianity.

The Priest made the call on Sunday while delivering a Homily at the newly approved Mass Centre by the Bishop of Issele-Uku Diocese, Most Revd Dr Michael Odogwu Elue at Maris Schools, Amachai, Okpanam.

According to the Priest, no one who makes sacrifice for the work of God to grow will not be rewarded.

He made references to the Biblical widow of Zar’ephath; who sacrificed all that she had with faith in God and did not lack.

“How generous are we when it comes to the growth of the Church? We should be magnanimous in giving because from the little that we give, great things will come,” he said.

Fr. Konyeke who came from the Catholic Institute of West Africa (CIWA), to attend the Holy Mass, described the first Mass celebrated at the Mass Centre as memorable and significant.

He thanked Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, the Senior Special Assistant, Media to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his family for making Maris Hall, Maris Schools available as Mass Centre to cater for the spiritual needs of the huge population of Catholics and Christians in general who are living within the neighbourhood of Maris Schools, Amachai, Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Fr. Konyeke, also, urged the Catholics who came out in their large numbers to attend the Holy Mass to start working towards having a Parish in the area.

He asserted, “all of us must make contributions for the growth of the Church, we should not wait for there to be problem before we react, we must avoid anything that will scatter the Church, build this place in love, build this Parish together.”

He thanked the Priest in charge of the Mass Centre, Rev. Fr. Andrew Mozia for making sacrifice to reach out to people despite the difficult terrain that most times, require him to use Okada (commercial motor cycle) as means of transportation.

At the well attended Holy Mass, Comrade Egugbo and family led the management, staff and students of Maris Schools to thank God for His goodness.

Also, the Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Non-indigenes and Community Development, Lion Anthony Chukwu led his family and well wishers to thank God for fruitful seventeen years of marriage, among other groups and individuals who went for thanksgiving.

It would be recalled that on Wednesday, July 25th, 2018, Rev. Fr. John Konyeke was the Chief Celebrant at the Holy Mass held to mark the opening of Maris Schools with Priests, former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, among other personalities in attendance.
