A Catholic Priest,  Rev. Fr. Cornelius Okeibunor, on Sunday morning, called on Nigerians to pray to God to save the country from greedy and corrupt leaders.

According to the Priest,  Nigeria as a nation is blessed but few greedy and corrupt leaders are sitting on its progress.

He spoke while celebrating the Holy Mass at the Catholic Church of the Ascension, Asaba, Delta State.

“Some people are sitting on the progress of Nigeria; there are people who own estates in the United Kingdom and some of them are dead.

“For Nigeria to be better, we should pray for God to handle those who are sitting on the progress of the country because we are becoming a wasteful nation and no wasteful nation can succeed.

“We are suffering from the wastage of some of our leaders; if it doesn’t bother you, visit the market to face reality; if Nigerians are given the option of travelling out of the country, most of them will embrace the option and this is not good for the country.

“There is something that we can do, let us pray to God,” the Priest said.

He urged the people not to be slave to money but serve God with all that they have as they cannot serve God and mammon.

Fr. Okeibunor said, “God is a primary factor, He cannot be the subordinate factor, so, everyone of us should check ourselves and know if we are faithful to God because all that we have is a means of salvation.

“Whatever you do, do it for your salvation; let our leaders use their positions for their salvation, because, the master will ask us to render accounts of our stewardship.”

The Holy Mass which was co-celebrated by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Hilary Ibegbulem,  featured thanksgiving by Mr and Mrs Basil Aigbudumeh, Special Assistant, Special Duties to the Governor of Delta State, among other activities.
