The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, has praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for approving the construction of internal roads in Okwagbe, Imode and Eyara communities in Ughelli South Local Government Area.

Izeze said the approval reflects the governor’s strong commitment to equitable infrastructure development and the improvement of living conditions for residents across Delta State.

Speaking in a statement, the commissioner disclosed that leaders and stakeholders from Imode community had approached him in 2025 during a visit to his family compound in Oginibo, where they passionately appealed for the construction of the Imode Road.

According to him, the community leaders explained that the road was vital to the movement of people and goods and would greatly boost socio-economic activities within the area.

Izeze noted that he promptly conveyed the request to Governor Oborevwori, whom he described as a responsive and people-oriented leader with a clear determination to address the developmental needs of communities across the state.

He stated that the governor’s approval of the internal road projects in Okwagbe, Imode and Eyara would significantly enhance accessibility, stimulate economic activities and improve the quality of life for residents of the benefiting communities.

The commissioner also acknowledged other key infrastructure projects approved by the state government, including the ECN–Udu Express Road and the Ekakpamre–Ekrokpe–Usiefrun–Oruwhorun Road, describing them as strategic interventions that would further strengthen connectivity and development across the state.

Izeze further commended the governor for approving the construction of halls of residence across campuses of state-owned tertiary institutions, noting that the initiative would help address accommodation challenges faced by students.

While expressing appreciation to the governor for his continued responsiveness to the needs of the people, the commissioner assured residents of Otutuama, Esaba, Ophorigbala and Iwhreogun communities that their requests for development projects had already been presented to the governor for consideration.

He expressed optimism that the communities would soon benefit from the state government’s ongoing infrastructure expansion across the state.

Izeze emphasized that the approval of the projects aligns with Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, which focuses on Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms and Enhanced Peace and Security.

“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has demonstrated through his actions that governance must positively impact the lives of ordinary people. These road approvals are not just projects; they are pathways to development, economic growth and a better future for our communities,” Izeze said.
