The Delta State Government has presented a 30-seater Coastal Bus to the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Kwale.
The bus according to the Governor is part of his administration’s commitment to supporting the development and smooth administration of the institution.
The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D, made the presentation at Government House, Asaba on Tuesday.
He described the gesture as a demonstration of the state government’s commitment to supporting the university and its leadership.
The Governor noted that the state government recognised the important role the institution plays in education, human capital development and the future of Delta State and Nigeria.
According to him, the state government was willing to partner with the university to ensure that the vision and mandate for which the Federal Government established the institution were fully achieved
The Governor disclosed that the State was home to several federal universities and other tertiary institutions, in addition to the state-owned university, all of which required government attention and support.
“We are committed to working with you and supporting the institution within the limits of our capacity.
“Obviously, we cannot do everything, but where there is something we can reasonably do to assist the institution, we will always be willing to consider it.
” The vehicle that was pledged is now being presented to you,” he said.
He expressed the hope that the vehicle would contribute meaningfully to the smooth administration and effective operations of the university.
Receiving the donation, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences , Prof.Abel Nze Onunu, expressed profound appreciation to the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for fulfilling his promise to donate a vehicle to the institution.
He said the gesture would significant boost the institution’s operations and its ability to fulfil its mandate.
He said, “I want to use this opportunity to ask you to convey our heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency.
He expressed optimism that sustained collaboration between the university and the Delta State Government would also contribute significantly to addressing the shortage of medical personnel.
