“I will brief my Governor about you intentions as they are in line with the commitment of his administration to raise the bar in education.

“There is no doubt that government cannot do it alone and democracy provides for inclusiveness, that is why the administration while delivering on its mandate, is also, welcoming individuals and organisations that want to contribute to the growth of our society, our dear state, Delta,” the deputy governor said.

He observed that the Government College, Ughelli has produced prominent personalities over the years and commended GCUOBA for its commitment to partner with the Delta State government to improve the quality of education in the college.

Earlier, the President-General of GCUOBA, Olorogun Albert Akpomudje,SAN, asked the Delta State government to concession Government College, Ughelli to the association.

He said, “Government College, Ughelli was founded in 1945 and most of the school graduates were men of outstanding performance in their field of endeavour as merit, fairness, discipline and responsibility  is their watch word.”

In a presentation by the Price Water Copper (PWC), a consultant, Mary Iwelumo said areas of concession should include leadership, management, teaching and learning, student well-being, co-curricular activities, operational and financial management, saying the steps would benefit the school, the state and the country at large.

Some members of GCUOBA who were at the courtesy visit include, Architect Charles Majoroh, Mr Sam Amuka Pemu, Chief Miller  Uloho, Mr Patrick Origho, Elder Simeon Efenudu, among others.
