GOVERNOR Ifeanyi Okowa, his wife, Dame Edith, today led top government functionaries to a requiem mass held in honour of late Tom Amioku held at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church, Ugborikoko in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

Also in attendance were the former state governor Chief James Ibori, the state Deputy governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro and two former deputy governors of the state, Prof. Amos Utuama and Sir Benjamin Elue,

Others were Senator James Manager, some present and former members of the National Assembly, Speaker of the state Assembly Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, his deputy Hon Ochor Christopher Ochor and some members of the State Assembly, Commissioners,Special Advisers,council chairmen, State Chairman of the PDP Chief Kingsley Esiso and other top government officials from the state and beyond.

In a homily at the service,Reverend Father Anthony Mario Ozele affirmed that the death of a Christian was a transition to eternal glory and described Sir Tom Amioku as a man that used his life for the service of God and humanity.

“while we have the time in life, let’s make the best use of it ,because even a hundred years of our lives is not forever. Let’s invest in heaven while on earth ” he said

Reverend Father Ozele reminded all of the need to accept Christ and obey His commandments to have a permanent home in heaven .” God wants us to love Him and follow Him.”

While commiserating with the bereaved family on the death of their father, he enjoined them to draw closer to God whom he said is the best friend in good and bad times.

To the congregation, he reminded all in positions of authority to use it to affect lives just as Late Amioku did by investing his money and time in the service of God and betterment of the society and all who met him for help.

The remains of the former Commissioner for Power and Energy, Amioku, was later conveyed in a motorcade to his home town of Egborode in Okpe local government area for internment.

Governor Okowa, his wife ,Dame Edith and other eminent guests were also at the reception for guests at Egborode to commiserate with his wife,children and family members.

Late Amioku who died at the age of 73 was a top notcher of the PDP.

He was also a prominent Chief in Okpe land and a devout member of the Knight of Saint John in the Catholic faith.
