How To Apply For Teachers Registration Council – Education

The registration of teachers under the Nigerian Teachers Registration Council (TRCN) has started across the country and many teachers who fail to meet up to the registration process may be bar from entering the classroom across the states in the country beginning from the 2017/2018 Academic session. The procedures can be followed strictly and all the steps have be outline here as you continue to read

The Nigerian Teachers Registration council (TRCN) is a registration guideline which will ensure that all teachers in the country are mandatory by law to register so as to be qualified to teach in all Nigerian schools.

The Nigerian Teachers Registration council (TRCN) is an agency of the Federal Ministry of Education. It was established by the TRCN Degree NO. 31 of 1993 (now TRCN Act CAP T3 of 2004) with major mandate of regulation and control of the teaching profession at all levels of the Nigerian Education System, both in Public and Private sectors.

Purpose for the Registration – Nigerian Teachers Registration council (TRCN)
The registration of the Nigerian Teachers Registration council (TRCN) is for the purpose of professionalization to facilitate the upliftment of teachers’ status and dignity as professionals.
MANDATORY REGISTRATION
As obtain in other noble professions, the law makes it an offence for anyone to engage in teaching without registration. This is clearly spelt out in section 17(2) of the TRCN Act which states that if on or after the commencement of the Act, any person not being a registered member of the profession is guilty of an offence. The Act further states that employers and other officials who aid and abet the employment of unqualified/unregistered teachers are themselves guilty of the same offence and shall receive same punishment.

QUALIFICATION FOR THE REGISTRATION
To be registered as a professional teacher, a person must possess a teaching qualification not lower in standards than the Nigeria certificate in Education (NCE). Holders of Teachers Grade Two with effect from 2006 are no longer being registered. Those with B.sc or other qualification wishing to join the teaching profession must still register with the Nigerian Teachers Registration council (TRCN).

How to apply for the Nigerian Teachers Registration Council (TRCN).
To begin your registration as a teacher for the council registration you will need to follow detail instructions here. You you need to login into the site at www.trcn.gov.ng.
Registration procedures
Once you login to the site www.trcn.gov.ng, on the top right side on the website click on Generate RRR NO. or click Here fill the form and generate RRR number, take the RRR number to any of the banks and fill the teller as instructed below and make payment. Find any of the banks closest to you and ask if TRCN payment can be made before you make your payment.
Fill the deposit slip and ensure you provide the following information;
Account Name: Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria
Depositor’s Name: (your full names as it appears in your certificate)
Purpose of Payment: (please choose correctly from the following service type/purpose
– Annual license Renewal Fees
– Registration Fees
– Sale of Nigerian Journal of Professional Teachers
– Professional Standing Fees
– Proceed from Boarded Items
– Sale of Government Assets
– Income from Issuance of Staff ID card
– Income Reform Sublet of office premises refund
– Tender Fees
– Contract Registration Fees
– Fines
– Sales of Teacher Register
-Others

N.B: inform the bank staff processing the transaction that payment is to be made through Remita and there will be no need to provide an account number.
Visit any TRCN office close to you with your teller/invoice and you will be issued a cash collection receipt to enable you process your registration.

Annual dues are to be paid at any TRCN designated bank and the teller taken to TRCN office for documentation

LICENCES RENEWAL
A teacher is required to renew his/her license every (3) years. However he/she must have paid his/her annual dues consecutively for those three years for his/her license to be renewed. Other conditions expected before a teacher’s license is renewed include:
– Good conduct
– Regular participation of TRCN membership activities, etc.
