The Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, who was recently diagnosed of COVID-19, has urged Deltans to remain calm as he was responding positively to treatment.

Mr Aniagwu and the Secretary to Delta State Government, Mr Chiedu Ebie were diagnosed with COVID-19 according to a statement signed by Mr Olisa Ifeajika, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Delta State.

“The fresh cases in our hands in Delta further testifies to the fact that COVID-19 is not a scam. It is real and people should take the issues of the virus and personal hygiene seriously.

“COVID-19 is not a death sentence; so, when you begin to feel unwell, reach out to approved government hospitals for appropriate tests to be carried out.

“We can save ourselves and others from this virus if we obey all the protocols of wearing facemasks, regular washing of hands with running water, use of alcohol-based sanitisers and maintaining physical distancing while congregating in any form.

“All our hospitals and isolation centres across the state are on 24 hours alert to receive any case(s) of the Coronavirus or other health challenges.”

Aniagwu in a telephone chat with newsden.com.ng, expressed gratitude to Deltans and his friends across the world for their prayers and goodwill messages, assuring that he was responding positively to treatment.

“There is no cause for alarm, I am responding to treatment and I thank our Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for taking the proactive steps in setting up these isolation and treatment centres across the state.

“I am also grateful to all of you out there for your prayers, supports and words of encouragement. By His grace, we will be out of this place healthier.

“COVID-19 is real and those of you out there should observe safety and health protocols established by government.

“If you have no serious reasons to leave your residence, stay indoors”, the information commissioner advised.
