DTSG Releases 2025/2026 Approved School Calendar

The Delta State Government has released the 2025/2026 academic calendar for all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state , just as schools are to resume, Monday, September 8 for the commencement of first term academic activities.

A statement from the Functioning Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs. Patricia N. Iniovosa-Okakwu on behalf of the State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu and her counterpart in charge of Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu indicated that all school heads and staff are to resume on Monday, September 1st.

The statement said that boarders are to resume on Sunday, September 7, while teaching and learning would begin on Monday, September 8 , stressing that the six weeks pre-mid term teaching would commence on September 8 and end on October 17, 2025.

According to the statement, the seven weeks post mid term teaching would take place between Monday, October 27 and Friday, December 12, adding that the first term examination would be conducted from Monday, December 8 to 12, 2025 while the School Term Achievement Review (STAR) day and the mandatory School Based Management Committee meeting should be held also on Friday, December 12.

It said that the first term holidays would begin from Monday, December 15 to Friday, January 2.

Meanwhile, the statement clarified that the 6 weeks pre -mid term teaching would commence on Monday, January 5, 2026 which is the commencement date for the resumption of schools for the second term and would end on February 13, 2026.

It stated that mid term break would be observed from Monday, February 16 to February 20 with the six weeks post mid term teaching scheduled to begin from Monday, February 23 to April 2, 2026.

The statement explained that the second term examination would be conducted from Monday, March 27 to April 2 with the School Term Achievement Review (STAR) day and School Based Management Committee meeting to be held on Thursday, April 2 while the second term holidays would start from Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 17.

Similarly, the six weeks third term academic activities for the pre-mid term teaching and learning have been scheduled to commence on Monday, April 20, after boarders had resumed on Sunday, April 19 and end on May 29.

The statement said that the third term mid term break would be observed between Monday, June 1st and Friday, June 5 preceding the seven weeks post mid term teaching from Monday, June 8 to Friday, June 24.

It further said that the conduct of the third term examinations would commence Monday, June 20 to Friday, July 24 when the School Term Achievement Review (STAR) day and the School Based Management Committee meeting would be held while the seven weeks holidays is scheduled to begin from Monday, July 27 to Monday, September 14.

The statement said that the Cognitive/Placement examination would be conducted on Saturday, May 23 while the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) would hold from Monday, June 1st to Friday, June 5, 2026 , just as it urged all public and private schools in the state to ensure strict adherence to the stipulated dates in the approved 2025/2026 academic calendar.
