The Chief Press Secretary to Delta governor, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, has expressed appreciation to the electorate in Unit 17, Ward 3, Illah, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State for supporting and voting for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last general elections.

Ifeajika, who held a “Thank-you” gathering at Illah at the weekend, extolled voters in the unit and Ward for keeping faith with the PDP, especially in the Governorship and House of Assembly elections.

According to him, it is very exigent that I come to say a very big thank you to every member of this polling unit for making sure that PDP had impressive outing in the recent elections, and I am happy that I have come today to do so.

“I appreciate the extra work that all of us had to do to ensure that our party, the PDP, emerged victorious in the state elections. Our victory is worth celebrating, hence, this meeting,” he said.

The CPS urged the people to keep supporting the party and the state government in order to continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy.

“Delta State Government under the Peoples Democratic Party will continue to deliver to you the dividends of democracy and good governance as you have supported the party to victory.

“You know that Illah, Oshimili North and Delta are synonymous with PDP and this has been audaciously proven in every election since 1999. We have sustained the culture, and by the grace of God and commitment of all of us, we will continue to deliver the party.

“I thank you all most sincerely, for believing in me and other leaders in the Ward. What we did at the March 18 Governorship and House of Assembly elections was akin to battle for life.

“It was either we got it or perish; we worked very hard and God gave us deserved victory. We give all the glory to God, and I thank you again for the performance,” he said.

In his remarks, Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Area, Mr Innocent Esewezie, who was a guest at the occasion, thanked the leaders and people of the Unit for voting for PDP.

He reminded the people that the PDP-led government in the state had already touched lives in Illah community in many ways, including infrastructure, empowerment and other programmes.

“You can see that the council is already building a befitting market and lock up stores for the people of Illah. And, many roads are being constructed here in Illah, as we speak.

“And I know that the incoming administration of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, our Governor-elect, will do more for the people of as he has promised in his agenda,” Esewezie said.

Members of Ward 3 commended the Chief Press Secretary, Ifeajika, for working so hard for the PDP in the unit and the entire community.

They said that the CPS’ gesture of “thank you ” to the people was the first of its kind that the electorate would be visited for appreciation after an electoral victory as recorded in the last general elections.

Chairman of the party in the Ward, Mr Nelson Okonma, lauded the Governor’s spokesman for the his appreciation to the people, describing him as a leader the people of Illah were always proud of.

Present at the occasion were Leader of Oshimili North legislature, Mr Adim Ofuase; PDP Vice Chairman in the Ward, Comrade Chiedu Okonkwu; PDP Secretary in the Ward, Chekwube Uduh; Youth Leader, Eziashi Iwediebo and other leaders.
