The Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Communication Mr Charles Aniagwu and Staff of the Ministry of Information, Delta State have celebrated Mrs Theresa Adiabua Oliko, Functioning Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information for her meritorious service to the Ministry and to the Civil Service of Delta State.
Speaking during the handover ceremony at Prof Chike Edozien Secretariat, Asaba, the Commissioner said Mrs Oliko’s knowledge of the Civil Service was one of a kind, praising her for the examplary leadership she showcased all through her time in the service.
Aniagwu said Mrs Oliko’s dedication to duty and leadership acumen were worth celebrating. He called on all Information Officers in the state to follow her footsteps.
The new Functioning Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Harold Orji described Mrs Oliko as a ‘Guru’, saying that her experiences gathered from the various positions she held, had distinguished her from many others.
According to him, “Today is not just a handover ceremony but to celebrate a woman who has attained the retirement age and still hale and healthy with wealth of experience. So I thank the Honourable Commissioner for his presence and for joining us to celebrate her”.
On her part, Mrs Oliko thanked the Commissioner for giving her the enabling environment to perform. She thereafter, handed over to the most Senior Director of the Ministry, Mr Harold Orji as the new Functioning Permanent Secretary.
Until her retirement, Mrs Theresa Adiabua Oliko was the first female Director of Information, first female Director of Public Communication, Delta State and first female Functioning Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Delta State.
