The Common Men Assembly (CMA) has wrapped up its Back to School Project after weeks of outreach to 28 communities and schools across Delta and Edo states, providing much-needed learning materials to pupils in underserved areas.

The education intervention covered Warri South, Warri South West, Warri North, Burutu, Patani and Bomadi local government areas in Delta State, as well as parts of Edo State, with a focus on riverine and rural communities.

Under the programme, CMA distributed desks, books, school sandals and school bags to primary schools, helping to improve classroom conditions and reduce learning barriers for children.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, CMA Chairman and medical professional, Chief Angodideke Jude, said the project underscored the organisation’s belief that community development must begin with education.

He noted that some schools received up to 30 desks each, a development that significantly enhanced the learning environment for pupils.

Chief Jude credited the success of the outreach to strategic partnerships with Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited and the Godfrey Pondi Book Club, as well as the efforts of CMA members, volunteers and community stakeholders.

Schools across communities such as Okosugbene, Izansa, Ofougbene, Orugbene, Ekogbene, Bulou-Ndoro, Kokodiagbene, Isaba, Ogbudugbudu, Patani, Agoloma, Kpakiama, Bomadi, Tuomo, Torugbene, Ugborodo and Opuodebubou benefited from the intervention.

He applauded teachers for their dedication in challenging environments and expressed gratitude to parents for supporting their children’s education amid economic hardship.

The Common Men Assembly reaffirmed that the Back to School Project remains a core component of its long-term strategy to promote education, empowerment and sustainable development across Delta and Edo states.
