“This project is a clear reflection of our administration’s commitment to urban renewal, economic growth, and improving the quality of life for our people.

“The waterfall holds immense potentials not just as a recreational hub, but as a driver of tourism, job creation, and sustainable development.

“What we are seeing here today is a step in the right direction, and I commend the contractors and all stakeholders for their efforts so far.

“We enjoin other companies to emulate what we are doing here by coming here to partner with us to do some other projects.

“I want to emphasize that quality, safety, and timely delivery of this project must remain our top priorities; this project must meet the highest standards, as it represents the pride and future of Delta State.”

Earlier, the Special Project Director, Asaba Waterfront City, Hon. Victor Ebonka, said the project is a new upscale real estate and waterfront development in central Asaba on the bank of River Niger with a 400-Hectare of land for development.

He noted that the project is a reclamation and development of approximately 400 hectares (4.0 million square meters) of swamp land and areas prone to seasonal flooding along the bank of River Niger.

The area is bound by old Anwai Road to the West, Nnebisi Road/Isieke area to the southeast, while in the East by the River Niger and the Ibusa Road junction/St John Bosco Catholic Church area to the South.

The Northern boundary is at a point parallel to Government House off Summit Road.

Hon. Ebonka said the objective is to develop high-quality land for residential and commercial activities adding that the target area is currently uninhabited and undeveloped.

He said the aim is to reclaim, remediate, redesign and redevelop 400 hectares of swamp land, low lying areas prone to seasonal flooding and a 35,000 hectare lake in Central Asaba City and to create new land suitable as a foundation for Asaba Waterfront City.

According to him, the project is to build world class, 21st Century infrastructure such as high quality roads with sidewalks, a superior underground and above ground drainage systems, below ground sewer, potable water and power networks as well as to create a conducive environment so as to attract investments, investors, clusters of high technology and financial/Fintech companies, to create upmarket Waterfront, Lakefront, regular Residential and commercial plots of land.
