Do Not Trivialize COVID-19 Preventive Measures, Dantes Odogwu Urges Deltans

ONE of the strongest social media advocates for rigid adherence to COVID-19 safety measures, Mr Dantes Odogwu has warned that it will amount to great consequences for people to triviliaze the raging COVID-19 pandemic.

Odogwu who is the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State spoke against the backdrop of ongoing cynicism about the existence of COVID-19 by some persons.

He urged Deltans in particular “not to trade off laid down preventive protocols for callousness, deceit, carelessness or complacency.

“Prevention is always better than cure; strict compliance with precautionary measures is very necessary in complementing the state government’s efforts towards flattening the curve,” Mr Dantes said on Moday morning in one of his free lectures on how to prevent COVID-19.

He urged individuals to always prioritize the wearing of facemask, physical distancing, washing of hands with water and soap for at least 20 seconds after each contact- including the avoidance of hugs and handshakes- as these procedures will greatly guarantee one’s personal protection and that of others against the contraction and spread of the virus in the state.

Odogwu who identified ignorance and disobedience as two major banes to the state government’s efforts in protecting the lives of citizens and residents against the virus, blamed those campaigning against the reality that the virus exists as the actual promoters of ignorance which has made things worst in terms of the value that other people place on their lives as fellow humans.

Warning that life has no duplicate, Dantes urged Deltans to always bear in mind that “Health is Wealth”.

He assured Deltans of the Governor Okowa-led administration’s undaunted commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of lives not only during the pandemic, but always; including the provision of basic amenities/infrastructural facilities for a healthy, stable and stronger Delta.

According to him, “Governor Okowa’s administration cares.

“Everyone should to just play their parts as COVID -19 is not a respecter of age, title or status.”
