Education Ministries Honour Oghoro As He Bows Out Of Service

The Delta State Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education, have organized a valedictory session in honour of their retired Permanent Secretary, Mr. Augustine Ede Oghoro with a befitting retirement send forth in recognition of his services and value addition to the two Ministries and for driving the education system to greater heights.

The valedictory session, which took place at the Professor Chike Edozie’s Secretariat, Asaba, was attended by the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu and her counterpart in charge of Ministry of Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu and their staff as well as friends and family members of Mr. Oghoro.

In her keynote address, the State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu , who described the retired Permanent Secretary as an advocate of due process,expressed her Ministry’s gratitude to him for ensuring that the culture of hard work was observed in the Ministry .

Ezewu commended Mr. Oghoro for appraising procedural ethics among different departments of Ministry of Secondary Education, stressing that his inputs were policy centered aimed at reorienting, redirecting and revaluating positivity and doctrine of hard work.

While congratulating Mr. Oghoro, the Secondary Education Commissioner, further described the outgone Permanent Secretary as a father and mentor with the capacity to influence other life treasures in the state and reiterated that the ministry would always consult him in forming some of its policies.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu stated that Ministry of Primary Education sees the retirement as an activity for the celebrant to rest and re-energize himself for greater opportunities .

Dr. Ashibogwu explained that Mr. Oghoro possessed attributes that portrayed professionalism and humility, noting that such attributes were essential in maintaining the ethics of civil service.

He said that the retiring PS had in several times stressed the need for everyone to work in synergy in the Ministry and urged staff to emulate the attributes of Mr. Oghoro.

In their separate goodwill messages, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Comrade Ernest Ossai , the Chief Inspector of Education for Oshimili South, Lady Emilian Djoma and a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Media, Dr. Prince Orhomonokpaye lauded the retiring PS for bringing his wealth of experience to bare on staff of the Ministries and wished him greater opportunities in life.

Comrade Ossai stated that staff and directors in the Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education had learnt so much from the outgone Permanent Secretary, assuring him that whenever they encounter any difficult in discharging their responsibility they would seek his advice just as he said that apart from being an administrative officer, Mr. Oghoro had become an epitome of education.

The new Functioning Permanent Secretary in the two Ministries, Mr. Daniel Akiri thanked the two Commissioners for graciously directing the Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education to plan a valedictory session for the retirement of the PS , saying that they had tapped from the rich experience of Mr. Oghoro.

Responding, Mr. Oghoro told staff of the Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education that as civil servants working in the education sector, there was need for commitment , reminding them that education was basic to life , especially in achieving social, economic and political development of a person.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of gifts from Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education, from the Forum of Chief Inspectors of Education, some departments and from various individuals as well as group photographs with the outgone Permanent Secretary.
