A frontline aspirant for the chairmanship position of Delta Football Association (DFA), Ken Nwaomucha has said Delta is blessed with youths who are naturally gifted with football skills that should be projected to global limelight.
Nwaomucha stated that if he clinches the chairmanship position in the election billed to take place on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, he would use his wealth of experience as a seasoned football administrator and utilise his contacts within and outside the shores of the country to project the teeming talented footballers in the state to play in the international scene..
“As Chairman of YSFON Delta chapter in 2010, I registered 62 academy youth football teams in Delta from which a lot of the players have grown to play at some of our National Premier League clubs and National teams.
“If I assume the mantle of leadership in the DFA, I will improve on my past achievement as YSFON Chairman; we have a lot of talented footballers that will be projected to be our ambassadors outside thr shores of the country.
“The Warri Wolves, for instance is known for producing young players; we will nurture and expose them.
“The Suoer Eagles player, Oghenekaro Etebor came to limelight under my leadership as Chairman of the club, so we are going to improve on that to bring more of our players to global limelight.
“We will also fortify our senior teams like the Warri Wolves and other clubs owned by individuals in the state through the products from the youth teams.
“This will help us to avoid depending on players from other states to strengthen our clubs” he said.
Speaking about his chances in the race, Nwaomucha who once laced his boots for the Flying Eagles U-20 team, NPA FC, NNPC FC and Flash flamingoes FC as attacking midfielder said, “If you are close to the people, you will know more about them.
“With my closeness to the people, including the footballers and media in Delta, I assure everyone that there will be tremendous improvement when I come on board as Chairman.”
Nwaomucha is the oldest serving member on the board of Delta Football Assoction; he has served in Warri Wolves, Delta United and Delta Force, and presently, he is the Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Sports Development.
