American President’s “Lifetime Achievement Award” winner, Dr. Greg Nnamdi Oputa has been crowned the new Obi of Aboh Kingdom, a revered monarch in Nigeria’s South South geo-political zone.
Dr. Oputa was crowned King on Sunday in a colourful ceremony that took place at Aboh, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State.
With the conclusion of the ascension process to the stool of his forebears, Dr Oputa has emerged as the 20th Obi of Aboh Kingdom and he is addressed as His Imperial Majesty (HIM) Obi Oputa III.
In an interview held at the ancient Palace of Obi Oputa II, a well preserved edifice that could serve as a tourists’ attraction where he visited as part of the tradition rites, Obi Oputa III said, “today is a beautiful day, a new phase for my people, the good people of Aboh Kingdom.
“I feel very excited, I feel very fulfilled in life, and I thank God for making it possible, it is God alone who will give me the strength, the courage to move this Kingdom forward.
“Significantly, my people are aware of what I am doing in this Kingdom, I am sure that they are happy that I have done a lot and this is the time for me to do more with the grace of God.
“By the grace of God, this kingdom will move forward, not just this kingdom, Delta State will move forward.”
He urged his people to live in unity, stating, “my people should live happily with one another, let us live in unity, let us live in peace; by the grace of God, because of who I am in Christ, we are not going to discriminate against anybody, let us be united in moving Aboh forward.
“Togetherness is what we want for this kingdom, forgiveness is what we want for this kingdom.
“I love the people of Aboh so much, let the youths come out and be involved in moving Aboh forward, I lived in America, so, I know how important the youths are to the development of this kingdom, my life is centered on love and forgiveness.”
Also speaking, Prince Mike Oputa, on behalf of the entire Oputa Royal Family of Aboh, thanked the people of Aboh for making the right choice, saying, “you can see the excitement in the people, our people are happy that Dr. Greg Oputa is now His Imperial Majesty Obi Oputa III.
“For us up in the Oputa Royal Family, the Obi has our support just as the entire people of Aboh Kingdom are happy with his emergence as the Obi.
“We pray that God will protect him and grant him the wisdom to pilot the affairs of Aboh Kingdom. ”
A youth, Mr Odili Otunuya said, “we now have a King with swag, a well educated King who is exposed and has the reach to attract development to Aboh, certainly, with Obi Oputa III, the fortunes of Aboh will increase.”
Obi Oputa III is the President and Founder of United States of America (USA) based Gregory Oputa International Foundation.
He is an ordained minister of the gospel, the President and Founder of Throne of Grace Ministries, a non-denominational ministries with active outreach thrust in USA. Throne of Grace Ministries also has a branch in Aboh Kingdom, Delta State, Nigeria where a lot of the charity activities of the foundation are also carried out.
He is also an entrepreneur; a businessman, investor and philanthropist. He is married.
