The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, has said that it is the collective responsibility of all Deltans to make the administration of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori succeed.

Speaking on Thursday at his office in Asaba when he met with the King of Olomoro Kingdom, HRM Isaiah Isike and officials of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Deputy Governor Onyeme stated that one important area that Deltans can make the administration of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to succeed is by ensuring that there is peaceful co-existence in all parts of the state.

He said, “we are all holding positions to make people feel the impact of governance and we cannot afford to fail our people, the government of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori should be encouraged to deliver on its mandate of transforming Delta State.

“A King, a Council Chairman and a Governor that is not making his people to be progressive has failed his people and we are lucky as a people that we have a governor who has a listening ear, a governor who is ready to make appropriate consultations before taking decisions and we should work in line with what he is doing.

“We want peace in all parts of Delta State and our very dear and highly respected royal fathers, as you go back to your Kingdoms, ensure that they are peaceful and progressive.

“Make proper consultations at every stage of your administration before taking decisions, carry the people along in your actions and the progress that will all desire will be possible.

“Avoid anything that will cause disharmony in any part of the state and the local government Chairmen in particular should do the work they are elected to do by their people, they should be true representatives of the people and make proper consultations before taking decisions.”

The Deputy Governor frowned at the absence of the Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Council, Comrade Warri Ovoke Friday at the meeting saying, “there is no reason why the council chairman should not attend this meeting, this meeting supersedes every other assignment as the governor directed that we should hold this meeting to ensure that we do the right things always for our people.”

He ordered the representative of the Chairman of the Council, Mr Osuofa Eloho to unfailingly, tell the Chairman to meet him at his office.

Some of those who attended the meeting include the Ovie of Okpe Isoko, HRM Agbabe Felix, the Odiologbo of Ibrede, HRM Austin Oghaiyabor, the Igwe of Abala Kingdom, HRM Obi Dr Fredrick Egbunkonye II, the member representing Isoko South Constituency II at the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Ferguson Onwo, the Special Adviser to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, Chief Edwin Uzor, representative of the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr.
