LAND DISPUTES: Onyeme Sues For Peace, Dialogue

Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, has urged communities that have boundary disputes to remain peaceful and employ dialogue in resolving issues.

He made the call on Thursday in Asaba during the meeting of the Delta State Boundary Committee;

According to him, the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration was committed to resolving issues relating to boundary and urged communities having inter-boundary disputes not to take laws into their hands.

Onyeme who is the Chairman of the committee, disclosed that there cannot be meaningful development without peace.

“It is my pleasure to welcome members of the state Boundary Committee to this important meeting, considering the role it plays in ensuring that communities live in harmoniously with one another, thereby, enhancing the spirit of peaceful co-existence at inter-state, intra-state and inter-communal levels in line with the M.O.R.E Agenda of the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

“As part of the M.O.R.E Agenda, enhanced peace and security is of top priority because it creates the right atmosphere for socio-economic development of our state to the benefits of our people.

“Government will continue to prevail on communities to embrace peace and dialogue in resolving boundary disputes at various levels as this administration is committed to the development of the entire state for the betterment of all Deltans; as you are aware, without peace, there can be no meaningful development,” he said.

Onyeme disclosed that boundary committee has intervened in the disputes between Ugboba and Obomkpa in Aniocha North local government area, Issele-Azagba and Okpanam in Oshimili North local government area, Ukala-Okwute and Ebu communities in Oshimili North local government areas, assuring that speedy results are expected.
