”The meeting was presided over by the Chairman of Maris Trust Council (MTC), Chief Kenneth Olise, Ph.D., FCA.

“It was resolved that, in line with the lecture calendar, the nomination process for the Keynote Speaker should commence, and the public is encouraged to suggest potential topics for discussion.

”The Maris Lecture is a participatory platform used to proffer solutions to identified societal challenges.

“During the meeting, the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D., were commended for making the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, available for the event and for their consistent annual attendance.

”The immediate past Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, CON, originally approved the use of Unity Hall for the lecture after the first edition was held at the Orchid Hotel, Asaba.

”MTC also thanked the public for their active participation in the lecture series, from nominating Keynote Speakers and topics to selecting Discussants, the Chairman of the Occasion, and the Father and Mother of the Day and for attending the lectures in great numbers.

”The Maris Lecture holds every Wednesday before Easter Sunday.

‘For next year’s edition, it will take place on Wednesday, April 1, starting at 12:00 noon prompt.

”We commend the media for being a worthy partner and for consistently making the Maris Annual Public Service Lecture one of the most attended and publicized lectures in this part of the world,” Egugbo added.

Past Keynote Speakers of the Maris Annual Public Service Lecture include Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D.; Chief Williams Makinde; Rt. Hon. Festus Ovie Agas; Chief Fidelis Okenmor Tilije; Sir Patrick Ejidoh; and Prof. Chinye Chiemeka.
