THE Maris Trust Council on Sunday, expressed sadness over the death of Sariu Akanke Muritala, mother of the Accountant-General of Lagos State, Dr Shefiu Abiodun Muritala.
The deceased died on Friday, 19th March 2021, and was buried on Saturday, 20th March, 2021 according to Islamic rites.
In a statement jointly signed by Chief (Dr.) Kenneth Olise and Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, Chairman and Secretary of Maris Trust Council respectively, they expressed sadness at the passage of the Accountant-General’s mother.
“The late Madam Muritala, from reactions from those who had close contacts with her was a disciplinarian and a philanthropist.
“She was described by several persons as ‘mother’ which depicts an African woman that had her doors opened for family members and visitors.
“She will certainly be missed by her children and those who took her as their mother despite the fact that she was not their biological mother, as she touched their lives in several ways.
“On behalf of members, and staff of MarisTrust Council, we mourn with the family of the late Sariu Akanke Muritala, whose son, Dr. Shefiu Abiodun Muritala will be in Asaba, Delta State on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 to discuss the topic, Effective Tax Administration For The Delivery Of Democratic Dividends at the 2021 edition of Maris Annual Public Service Lecture. The lecture will take place at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.
“We pray that God will grant her soul eternal rest and grant her family the fortitude to bear the loss.”
