The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has attributed the successes recorded by his administration to God.
He also expressed deep appreciation to civil servants for their dedication, professionalism, and steadfast commitment to driving the state’s development agenda.
The Governor spoke on Sunday at an Inter-Denominational Thanksgiving Service organized to mark the 2026 Civil Service Week Celebration at the Church of God Mission International, Asaba.
He described public service as a “sacred trust” and praised the workforce for their quiet but impactful contributions to the progress of the state.
Represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D, the Governor noted that the thanksgiving service was in line with Biblical injunctions to return all glory to God for His unfailing goodness and faithfulness.
He said, “we acknowledge that every achievement we celebrate is by His grace, and we thank Him for the men and women whose dedicated service continues to advance the work of government in our dear State.
”I warmly congratulate our civil servants for your dedication, professionalism, and steadfast commitment.
”Though much of your work is done quietly, its impact is evident in the progress we continue to make across the State.
”I sincerely thank you for your service.”
Governor Oborevwori stated that the thanksgiving was in line with the exhortation of the Psalmist in Psalm 100:4, “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.”
”It is in obedience to that call that we have gathered today, to return all glory to God for His unfailing goodness and faithfulness.
”This occasion also reminds us that public office is a sacred trust; as we thank God for His blessings, let us renew our commitment to integrity, diligence, accountability, and selfless service.
“Let us continue to serve with humility and always put the interests of our people first.
”I assure you that this administration will continue to support your welfare, strengthen capacity development, and build a more efficient and responsive public service.
”I deeply appreciate our fathers and mothers in the faith for your prayers and spiritual guidance; your support remains invaluable; please continue to pray for God’s wisdom upon our leaders, peace across our communities, and continued progress for our dear State.
”As we return to our various duties, may we do so with renewed faith, fresh strength, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
”May Almighty God continue to bless the Delta State Civil Service, bless Delta State with peace and prosperity, and bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
The Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Mininim Oseji, at the occasion thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for encouraging the civil service to thrive.
In a sermon delivered at the Thanksgiving Service, Rev. (Dr.) Eric Nwachukwu called on Christians to always believe in the goodness of God.
”You don’t need any evidence to know that God is working; so, stop focusing on your troubles, keep believing in the goodness of God because God uses everything for your good,” Rev. Nwachukwu said.
Top government functionaries were in attendance, including the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor (represented by Hon. Bridget Anyafulu), the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Sir Christopher Osakwe, retired and serving Permanent Secretaries, Directors, and other civil servants.
