According to the letter dated April 24, 2024 and signed by the Chapel Chairman, ‘’We, members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), The Pointer Chapel, hereby express our sincere appreciation for the recent restructuring in the Editorial Team of the Delta Printing and Publishing Corporation (DPPC).

‘’The dedication and commitment demonstrated by the board in ensuring that the editorial team is well-equipped to meet the evolving demands of the media landscape are truly commendable. Accordingly, the staff of the Editorial Department, particularly members of the NUJ, wholeheartedly supports the reorganization and firmly belief that it will contribute immensely to the corporation’s success.

‘’With the recent changes implemented, we are confident that the DPPC will continue to uphold the values of integrity, professionalism and excellence, while adapting to the dynamism of the industry. Furthermore, we would like to assure you of our continued cooperation and collaboration in realizing the mandate of the Corporation’’.

Recall that the board of DPPC has approved changes to the composition of the editorial team of the newspaper outfit.

With the endorsed reshuffle, some members of the team who had excelled in their erstwhile positions were given fresh responsibilities, while others who are discharging their responsibilities as expected were retained in their present post.

Mrs. Chibuzor Isichei, who is the most senior member of the Editorial Department, will continue to play her part as a Deputy General Manager (DGM) and Head of Department (HOD) Editorial, while Mrs. Henrietta Oyakhilome, currently on study leave is a Deputy General Manager (DGM) Editorial.

Others are Mr. Tony Eke, who retains his position as Chairman of the Editorial Board of The Pointer Newspapers. Mr. Patrick Nwanze was elevated from Editor (Daily) to Editor-in-Chief to oversee all editorial responsibilities of the newspaper. With his new appointment, Nwanze completes a cycle in his career journey, having been an Assistant News Editor, Group News Editor, Deputy Editor, Editor and now Editor-In-Chief.

The Daily title now falls on the shoulders of Mrs. Edna Emeni as Editor (Daily), but she comes prepared for this new responsibility, having served as Deputy Editor (Daily) for some years.

Fresh from returning from his former post as Chairman of Warri Wolves Football Club and aide to former Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Mr. Etu Moses is now Deputy Group Sports Editor, as Group News Editor, Mr. Andy Akeni will continue to take charge of all the titles. Mrs. Rosemary Nwaebuni retains her position as Editor (Weekend) just as Mr. Cletus Ngwodo stays on as Editor (Sunday).

Mr. Awele Ogbogu was appointed Production Editor, Mr. Godwin Nzemeke as Deputy Editor (Weekend), while Mr. Josiah Ogoegbunem, who was News Editor (Weekend), is now Deputy Editor (Sunday) and Mr. Patrick Mgbodo, his erstwhile assistant, steps in as News Editor (Weekend).

In his remarks after the new team was made open, the Acting General Manager, Mr. Godfrey Ubaka congratulated all, describing the new editorial team as “tested and trusted”.

While wishing them a fulfilling experience in the discharge of their functions, Ubaka said his vision was a turnaround of The Pointer Newspapers in content and circulation, so as to make it the pride of the Delta State Government and all stakeholders.
