The Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s-led administration will give a boost to human capital development as it will encourage all Deltans to excel in their chosen professions, his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, has said.

According to Onyeme, “when more of our people are positively engaged, crime rates will reduce and our people will fare better.”

The Deputy Governor spoke on Wednesday when he received on courtesy call, the Coordinators of Odozian/Ezinne socio-political group, led by the Chairman, Ukwuani Local Government Council, Hon. Possible Adede, Hon. Orji Ossai, and Chief Kenneth Nwaomucha at Government House, Asaba.

While assuring that communities in the state will have a feel of good governance, Onyeme stated that the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last general elections in the state was what Deltans desired and worked for.

“The victory was what our people desired and worked for, so, there is no way anyone or community in the state can be abandoned by this government, we should accept it as the government of all Deltans,” he said.

The deputy governor thanked members of the group for  the roles they played for the success of the elections and their large turnout at the thanksgiving held in his honour at St. John’s Anglican Church, Ibabu, Onicha-Ukwuani  in Ndokwa West Local Government Area, asserting, “the Odoziani/Ezinne Support Group is a formidable group that mobilized people and resources during our campaign and I am very proud of your activities, you will continue to remain strong.”

Earlier, the leader and spokesperson of the group, Hon. Orji Ossai, who appreciated God for the victory of the PDP in the last governorship election, noted that, “without Sir Monday Onyeme, the PDP would have collapsed in Ndokwa nation, especially in Ndokwa West Local Government Area.

“Many people were already leaving the PDP, including some prominent persons, because of the bad leadership style of some persons before Sir Onyeme came into active politics and his coming into politics saved our party from collapse, especially in Ndokwa nation.”

He appealed to Sir Onyeme to facilitate political appointment for members of the group because of the roles they played before, during and after the elections; and pledged their loyalty to the deputy governor and their willingness to remain with him in the political struggle for a better Delta State.
