Oborevwori Mourns PDP Chieftain, Oyemike

The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would always stand by its members.

The governor gave the assurance on Saturday when he paid a condolence visit to the family of Chief (Mrs) Mercy Oyemike at Abbi, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.

Oborevwori who was represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, was received by the Oyemike family led by Chief Christopher Oyemike, Ph.D and Abbi Council of Chiefs led by the Onotu Uku., Chief Odili Nwosah.

Oborevwori said, ‘Chief (Mrs) Mercy Oyemike was a good woman, a strong party loyalist and we will miss her greatly in our political activities.

“Without the efforts of Mrs Oyemike and her family, and those who worked for our party to remain strong, we would not have had a political platform to contest election.

“Her death affected all of us and our administration sympathize with the family of Oyemike and the PDP in general.

“This family stood by us, worked for our party and we will stand by the family as you pay last respect to our mother.

“It is good that we stay with the family of Oyemike as they mourn the loss of their dear mother.

“The loss of a mother could be very painful, it is something that must come in a man’s life, your mother lived a life that people should emulate.”

Chief Christopher Oyemike who is popularly known as C.C., thanked the Governor and the political class for identifying with the family as they mourn the passing of their mother.

He assured the governor that the family would inform him of the burial programme when such is our.

Some of those who were at the occasion include the member representing Ndokwa West Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Charles Emetulu, former member of House of Assembly, Hon. Azuka Azaka, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Sir Christopher Osakwe, Executive Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, Chief Azum Mgbabego, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Patrick Ogelenya, the Senior Special Assistant, Media to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo and the immediate past Chairman of the PDP, Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Ogbuefi Lucky Okuji.

Chief (Mrs) Mercy Ebele Oyemike passed on at the age of 74 years.

She was until her death, a retired Nurse, a politician, business woman and a great mobilizer of the people.

The deceased was survived by Mrs. Chika Odigbo, Chief (Dr.) Christopher,
Mrs. Nkem Nwashindi, Chief (Dr.) Ifeanyi Oyemike, Dr. Vivian Edema and Mr. Frank Oyemike.
