Oborevwori Urges Christian Leaders To Preach Peace

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on Christian leaders across the country to preach peace.

Governor Oborevwori made the call on Wednesday at Asaba when he received on courtesy call, the Primate of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Saraphim Church, His Most Eminence Baba Aladura Dr. David D.L Bob-Manuel.

Governor Oborevwori who was represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, noted that it will be difficult for a society that consistently experience violence to make progress.

The governor while congratulating the Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Saraphim Church on her forthcoming centenary celebration, urged the church not to relent in preaching the message of peace to the people.

“As Christian leaders, in all your sermons, preaching against violence is most appropriate because we do not need violence in our society.

“There is no society that experience violence all the time that makes progress.

“One cardinal point of the MORE Agenda of this administration is Enhanced Peace and Security, so, with what you are doing as a body of Christ to educate people, to educate our youths and citizens against any act of violence, you are helping to also actualize the MORE Agenda of this government.

“I want to believe that you have been praying for us, you have been praying for the State and we are very grateful.

“We want to urge you not to get tired of praying for our country, our State and the government for more direction to be able to continue to provide the dividends of democracy to our people,” the Governor said.

Governor Oborevwori congratulated the Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Saraphim Church for clocking one hundred of existence.

He said, “For the Sacred Order to be 100 years by September this year is no mean feat, I want to congratulate you and the church for this achievement.

Earlier in his address, Most Eminence David Bob-Manuel noted that, the visit was to celebrate and commend the governor for his remarkable, exemplary leadership and transformative governance he has selflessly bestowed upon the people of Delta State.

“As a Church, we categorically say no to violence and killings; our message is clear; the sanctity of life must be respected and preserved.

“Violence has no place in our society, and it must not be allowed to mar the God-ordained governance we enjoy in Delta State.

“We also appeal to the security agencies to perform their duties with the utmost professionalism and impartiality.”

Prayers were offered for the country, the state, among others at the occasion.
