The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged youths to imbibe the virtue of patience as they pursue their goals.

Governor Oborevwori made the call on Sunday in an address he read at the 3rd Session of the 9th Synod of the Diocese of Ughelli, Anglican Communion.

The governor was represented at the event which took place at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Enerhen, by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA.

According to Governor Oborevwori, “our youths should know that being in Christ does not end with coming to church; I appeal to our young ones to be patient and be understanding as they pursue their goals.

“They should always ask themselves, ‘does this pursuit of mine edify Christ? Does it make me a true ambassador of Christ?

“They should therefore, undertake some introspection before going ahead in all they do.

“I am addressing the youths, because most of the social upheavals prevalent in society are at the doorsteps of the youths.

“As an administration, we are running a youth-friendly government; our job creation endeavours will soon come on full stream.

“I also appeal to the church to intensify the message of Christ to persuade both the young and old to adopt the ways of Christ if we are to become true ambassadors of Christ.

“Let us through our ways, persuade non believers that it pays to be an ambassador of Christ; we should always remember to ask God to make us genuine ambassadors of Christ in all that we do.

“Let me remind the clergy that as Christian leaders, they should not be tired in praying for the nation and our leaders; I believe that as those who are called to serve, your fervent prayers will go a long way in addressing most of the challenges facing our dear country.

“I thank you for your prayers, which have been of great importance to my administration; your prayers have been very essential in the modest progress we have been able to make.

‘We will continue to solicit your continued support, especially through your prayers,”

The governor lauded the theme of thie Synod, “You Are Christ’s Ambassadors, Believers Heritage and Responsibilities,” stating that it apt and a clarion call to all Christians to be conscious of the heritage and responsibilities we bear in our daily lives.

“The theme reminds us that wherever we find ourselves, we have to be Christlike in all our undertakings,” Governor Oborevwori added.

Earlier in his sermon,, Rt Rev’d Stanley Fube, the Bishop of Langtang Diocese, Plateau State, who took his message from 11 Cor. 25:20 described Christians as Ambassadors of Christ.

He described an ambassador as representative of the country, who must be loyal, committed and have great love for the country he or she represents.

According to him, as an Ambassador of Christ, christians should show great love and commitment for Christ.

He added, “we shall give account of whatever we do in the open or in the secret.”

The Bishop tasked political office holders to lead with the love of Christ so as to truly show that they are representatives of Christ on earth.

He prayed for the release of God”s blessings upon the congregation for grace.

Some of those who attended the occasion include Sen. Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, the Senior Political Adviser to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Sir Christopher Osakwe, the Deputy Chief of Staff.
