Omu’s Passage: Onyeme Pays Condolence Visit To Ugoani

The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, on Thursday, paid a condolence visit to His Royal Majesty Michael Ogbolu, the Ugoani of Okpanam Kingdom over the passage of Obi Martha Dunkwu, the Omu of Okpanam,

Onyeme, described the death of the Omu as a great loss not only to the people of Okpanam but to humanity as she loved the rich African heritage.

While commiserating with the Ugoani and the entire Okpanam people, the deputy governor urged them to take solace in the fact that death is an inevitable end.

He said, “Your Royal Majesty, I want to thank you for allowing us into your palace today despite the short notice, we heard about the passage of the Omu, Obi Martha Dunkwu and we are here to tell you that it is a great loss to humanity..

“It has happened, and she will be greatly missed not only by the people of Okpanam but lovers of African tradition which she was in love with.

“The death of the Omu is a loss that touched everyone of us, because we all know the role that she played and was playing in our collective life.

“We saw her in action, we saw her passion for our people and our prayer is for her soul to rest in peace.”

The Ugoani thanked the Deputy Governor for identifying with them, assuring that the people of his kingdom will always support the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme

He said the late Omu worked assiduously to ensure that Okpanam was transformed from rural to urban community.

“I want to assure the deputy Governor of Delta State of the support and solidarity of the good people of Okpanam Kingdom.

“The Omu work assiduously to ensure the transformation of our community from rural to a urban community.

“Any time that the date is fixed to celebrate the life and passage of our Omu, the government will be informed and the people of Okpanam will participate actively.

“Today is not a speech making day. Having said that, I want to again assure His Excellency of the continuous support of the Okpanam Kingdom,” the Ugoani said.
