“It is only an educated person that can appreciate certain things. for instance, if you are not educated, there are a lot of things that you will never understand and you will never appreciate; with proper education, enlightenment, all forms of superstitious belief will be things of the past,” he said.

Onyeme, assured members the NADESSTU that the state government led by Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori would always give priority attention to education in the state.

He said, “I am happy to have you in my office today, this is because we place much premium on the proper education of our youths.

“We will do everything to encourage students that are in institutions of higher learning to succeed; I want everyone of you to know that going to school is the only way forward for our future.

“Things may be difficult today, but I can assure you that all these are temporal and an educated person will always find a way out.”

The Deputy Governor advised students to shun cultism and other social vices that could destroy their future and encouraged them to take their studies serious.

Earlier in an address, the National President of NADESSTU, Comrade Monday Whiska, commended the Deputy Governor for his philanthropic disposition, especially his Education Fund that had helped a lot of Deltans in their educational pursuit.

Whiska said that through Onyeme’s encouragement and his involvement in sponsorship of education activities, most students were propelled to campaign for and stand behind the PDP during the elections.

The Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Sir Christopher Osakwe, was among those who witnessed the courtesy visit.
