The Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, among other top government functionaries, and politicians on Thursday attended the Vigil Mass in honour of late Senator Peter Nwaoboshi.

The Vigil Mass which took place at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Ibusa, also witnessed the presence of former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori, immediate past Governor of Delta State, Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa and his wife, Dame Edith Okowa, Hon. Ndidi Elumelu, Hon. Francis Waive, Hon. Victor Nwokolo, Former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Dele Ezeoba, among others.

Delivering Homily at the Vigil Mass, Rev’d Father Stephen Onyah noted that, the late Sen. Nwaoboshi was a man who many would describe as bold, courageous, fearless, a man who lived a life of service of purpose as a politician, a man who believed in people and works with a sincere heart to make life better for them, he was a steadfast voice for the people, a principled man who believed in the dignity of labour.

Fr. Onyah added that, aside these attributes, the late Nwaoboshi was a man who knew the limit of boldness and the wisdom of humility before the things of God.

The Reverend Father encouraged the family of Nwaoboshi, friends and political family that the church will surround them with prayers and love.

He noted that though something fundamental has been taken away from them, they should remain in solidarity in the favour of the Lord through the legacy of the late Senator.

According to him; “even in sorrow, all should remember that God’s compassion never fails and that Christ will continue to work beside us in the midst of our grieves.”

He enjoined all to continue to live in humility to the service of God and humility even as they occupy positions of authority.
