The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, on Saturday, led top officials of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to attend the burial ceremony of Chief John Ojiugo Oyem.
The burial ceremony took place at Ndemili, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.
The deceased was the Father-in-law of a chieftain of the PDP, Mr Chuks Agidigbo.
Agidigbo, who is also, the Chief Executive Officer of MEDAST Nigeria Limited received the Deputy Governor who was accompanied to the occasion by the member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, Engr. Dan Ossai, Chairman, PDP, Delta North, Chief Tony Amechi, Special Adviser to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Investment, Chairman, PDP, Ndokwa West, Chief Anslem Nzete and his Ndokwa East counterpart, Comrade Henry Emeli, Mr Onnocha Ofogba, among others.
Those who joined Agidigbo to receive the Deputy Governor were Hon. Bar. Sam Osasa, Chief Kenneth Nwaomucha and other chieftains of the PDP.
Renowned Ndokwa-born Highlife music crooner, Eric Enuma and other musicians thrilled the audience who came from far and near to bid Pa Oyem who was popularly known as J. Double final goodbye.
Earlier, Pastor Femi Tejumade, urged Christians to live a good life noting that people would only be remembered by what they have done.
Pa Oyem who passed on at the age of 79 years, was a successful businessman.
In a tribute, Mr Agidigbo described his father-in-law as a man who stood firm for what he believed
“He was a hard working man who loved peace, a man who loved making sacrifices for others even when it is not convenient for him and his immediate family.
“He lived a contented life and hated greed, there were values that he held strongly until death.
“As his first son-in-law, I have shared some very memorable moments with him, sometimes talking late into the night.”
