Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has called on the people of Idumuje-Ugboko to embrace reconciliation and collective progress as the kingdom celebrates the 9th anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Obi Chukwunomso Nwoko, on the throne, alongside the 1st anniversary of the presentation of his Staff of Office.

At the colorful ceremony, which took place at his palace in Idumuje-Ugboko, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, Obi Nwoko conferred the chieftaincy title of Okosisi Ne Ye Ndu of Idumuje-Ugboko on the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D.

The Governor described the dual milestone as a testament to the monarch’s resilience and his commitment to the peace and stability of his ancestral domain.

According to Governor Oborevwori, who was represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D., “we are gathered here to celebrate two significant milestones in the life of a King: nine years of dedicated service on the ancestral throne of his forefathers, and the one-year anniversary of the formal presentation of the Staff of Office to His Royal Majesty, Obi Chukwunomso Nwoko.

”On behalf of the Government and the good people of Delta State, I say Agụ! Congratulations.

”We are all aware that traditional rulers are the custodians of our values and the heartbeat of our local communities; Your Majesty, your journey over the last nine years and particularly this past year with the official seal of the State is a testament to your resilience and your commitment to the peace of your people.

”The ‘MORE’ Agenda of this administration recognizes that meaningful development cannot happen in a vacuum of discord, we need the collaboration of our traditional institutions to ensure meaningful peace and security, opportunities for all Deltans, realistic reforms, and enhanced investment in our rural infrastructure.

”Idumuje-Ugboko is a land of great potential, known for its rich agricultural heritage and intellectual contributions to our State.

“Under your reign, I urge the people to unite behind the throne; this is because progress is a collective marathon, not a solo sprint.

”My dear people of Idumuje-Ugboko, a King is only as strong as the support of his people, I call on all stakeholders, youths, elders, and those in the diaspora yo embrace the path of reconciliation and progress.

“Let the past remain a teacher, and let the future be defined by the development we bring to this kingdom together.

”Your Majesty, as you celebrate today, know that this administration remains a partner in your progress; we will continue to work with the Aniocha North Local Government to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach the grassroots.

”As you continue your reign, it is my prayer that the Almighty God grants you the wisdom of Solomon, the courage of David, and the longevity of your ancestors. May your reign bring unprecedented prosperity, health, and harmony to Idumuje-Ugboko.”

The President General of the Idumuje-Ugboko Development Union, Dr. Christian Chiazor, said at the occasion that they were celebrating the peace and security that the reign of Obi Nwoko has brought to the Kingdom.
