The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, has said that the late Joshua Opia lived a life marked by dedication to public service.
Comrade Opia was, until his death at the age of 48, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State.
His remains were interred on Friday at Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State and Deputy Governor Onyeme, accompanied by political office holders, attended the ceremony.
The Deputy Governor in a condolence message sent to the family of the deceased said, “Comrade Opia was a distinguished figure whose life was marked by dedication to public service and the relentless pursuit of justice and fairness.
”As a true Comrade, he was a tireless advocate for the masses, contributing significantly to the political development and social justice movement of our people.
”His commitment, integrity, and passion for the welfare of others set a high standard for all who worked alongside him.
”We recognize that no words can fully alleviate the pain of this loss, but we encourage the family and his associates to take solace in the enduring memories you shared and the monumental contributions he made to society.
”May God, the source of all comfort, grant his soul eternal rest and provide the entire Opia family, friends, and associates the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
In a related development, Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme attended the burial ceremony of Pastor Mrs. Ossai Helen, elder sister of Engr. Dan Ossai.
Pastor Ossai, aged 78, was buried at Utagba-Uno, Ndokwa West Local Government Area on Friday.
The ceremony was also attended by Rear Admiral Mike Onah, OON, Hon. Azuka Azaka, Sir Christopher Osakwe, among others.
