The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D., has said that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is erecting structures for long-term development of the state.

He made the statement on Tuesday in Asaba when the management of Master Chemicals and Fertilizer Ltd and their strategic partners, Dantata M.B Global Resources, briefed the Delta State Economic Team about areas they intend to invest in the state.

According to Sir Onyeme who is the Chairman of the Economic Team, “Delta is blessed with both human and natural resources; what we need is the right structure, commitment, and willingness to act.

“Let me say it clearly, we are ready to partner, we are ready to collaborate, and we are ready to work together to move our state and our nation forward.

Agriculture Remains One Of The Most Viable Sector For Economic Development, Says Onyeme

Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D said agriculture Remains the most viable sector for economic development

“I must say, it is truly a pleasure to receive you today and I feel excited and encouraged by what we have heard so far.

“What we are witnessing here today reflects the kind of conversations and solutions we have long been seeking; it gives hope that we are moving in the right direction.

“From the various presentations and discussions, a number of key issues have stood out, especially in the areas of economic growth, agriculture, housing, and youth empowerment; for me, one of the most important takeaways is the need to focus on practical solutions that directly impact our people.

“We must move from theory to action; take agriculture, for instance, it remains one of the most viable sectors for economic development.

“With the right investment, modern techniques, and proper organization, agriculture can provide food security, create employment, and boost our economy.

“We must begin to look at agriculture not just as subsistence farming, but as a serious business.

“Areas such as crop production, livestock farming, and ranching present great opportunities.

“If properly harnessed, these opportunities can reduce unemployment, improve livelihoods, and strengthen our communities.

“Another important issue is partnership, development cannot be achieved in isolation, we must be willing to collaborate with government, private sector players, and individuals to achieve meaningful progress.

“Resources may sometimes seem limited, but with proper planning, transparency, and cooperation, we can do a lot more than we imagine.”

Earlier, the Chairman of Dantata M.B Global Resources, John Parker, said Delta State is strategically positioned and richly endowed with natural resources, fertile land, and waterways, making it highly suitable for large-scale commercial agriculture.

He stated that the organisation is ready to partner with the Delta State Government through a community-based cooperative model to develop commercial agriculture across the state.

“The state has strong potentials in the production of key cash crops such as cocoa, oil palm, and cassava.

“These agricultural value chains, if properly developed, can significantly boost the state’s economy.

“Agriculture in Delta State has the capacity to increase internally generated revenue, create employment opportunities, reduce poverty, enhance food security, and improve export earnings.”

“On housing development, in addition to agriculture, we also recognize the significant housing deficit in Nigeria, particularly at the state and local government levels.

“We are fully prepared to partner with the Delta State Government in both agriculture and housing development,” Dantata said.
