Political Re-union As Obielum Buries 87 Years Old Mother In Grand Style

In an event that could be described as a political reunion filled with glitz and pageantry, renowned Delta-born politician, Chief Godwill Obielum on Saturday, laid the remains of his mother, Mrs Victoria Ossai Obielum to rest.

The event no doubt, was a top-notch ceremony that attracted people across political divides, religious groups, community leaders, among others.

The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori was represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, and the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa were at Chief Obielum’s residence at Ushie, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State where the burial ceremony took place.

Member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, his counterparts in Isoko and Ika Federal Constituencies, Hon. Jonathan Ukodiko and Hon. Victor Nwokolo respectively attended the event which was also, attended by national officer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sen. Ighoyota Amori, former Chairman of the PDP, Elder Emma Ogidi, President General, Ndokwa Neku Union, Gen. Mike Ndbuisi, Ambassador Godson Echegile, the Head of Service, Delta State, Mr Reginald Bayoko, Prof. Chike Okolocha, Sir Fidelis Tilije, Barr. Sam Osasa, Chief Festus Ochonogor, Chief Chris Agbobu, Hon. Sunny Tatabuzogwu, Engr. Dan Ossai, Hon. Chris Osakwe, retired Assistant Generals of Police, Uche and Akpan Fafoworo.Also seen at the occasion were Elder Moses Iduh, Chief Edwin Uzor, Hon. Smart Meka, Sir Felix Gbagi, Prince Mike Oputa, Chief Chinyonye Aliyu and Bashorun Askia Ogeah.

Members of the Delta State Executive Council, Chairmen of Councils, were also present at the occasion.

In a message titled, “What Will You Be Remembered For?” during the open air funeral service, Pastor Ifeanyi Ogude of Heaven Bound Christian International Ministry, said that life was ephemeral but the memories left behind was what matters, and urged Christians to reflect deeply on what they would be remembered for.

Reading from Ecc. 7:1, Pastor Ogude said that a good name is better than riches, adding that a good name reflects a life of integrity.

Using the story of Dorcas in Acts 9:36-42, he noted that Dorcas was raised from the dead by Apostle Peter because of her good works.

Pastor Ogude urged christians to maintain good name by showing love and kindness.

Prayers were offered for the children and the family at the occasion.
