Road Accident Claims One Life, Several Others Injured

A fatal road accident has claimed the life of one person, leaving several others injured.

The accident occurred at about 9 am on Wednesday at the sloppy hills of Agulu, near Golden Tulip hotel, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Newsden reports that the accident was due to lane diversion as vehicles involved were making frantic efforts to dodge potholes on the said portion of the road where the crash occurred.

The first information report on the road mishap as compiled by the Sector Public Education Officer, RC. Paschal Anigbo revealed that FRSC officials from Nanka outpost were on hand for rescue operations.

“The fatal crash involved a Toyota Highlander with enlistment number FGG33KJ and Hijet Daihatsu Pickup, without registration number. A total of Five male adults were also involved.

“Two sustained some degree of injuries and one death recorded. According to eyewitnesses, four of the victims were traveling in the pickup, with two seated inside and two in the bucket. The crash was reportedly caused by lane diversion. The victims were taken to St. Joseph Hospital, Adazi Nnukwu while traffic control is ongoing.

“The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi strongly warns drivers against all forms of dangerous driving. Drivers must obey lane discipline and tolerate other road users. Road traffic crashes are avoidable,” the report said.
