TENNIS FINALS: Konyeke Sets To Battle Spencer

RENOWNED Catholic Priest and award winning lawn tennis player, Rev. Fr. John Konyeke is set to battle Andy Spencer in the finals of 2025 Shell Club Tennis Master Tournament.

Fr. Konyeke a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) student of Catholic Institute of West Africa (CIWA), Port Harcourt, Rivers State, defeated his rivals in the preliminary stages before getting to the final stage.

The finals would take place at Court 2 of Shell Club, Port Harcourt at 1 pm prompt on Saturday, March 1, 2025.

It would be recalled that Fr. Konyeke as the Parish Priest, Catholic Church of the Ascension, Asaba, emerged winner of the maiden edition of Delta State Clergymen’s Tennis Championship held in Asaba, among other tournaments while Andy Spencer is the Head Coach, Lawn Tennis, Delta State.

Today’s event promises to be action-packed.

In a related development, the Chairman, Maris Trust Council, MTC, organisers of the annual Maris Public Service Lecture series, Chief Kenneth Olise, FCA, Ph.D, JP, has expressed joy that Fr. John Konyeke has reached the final stage of the Shell Masters Tennis Championship.

Chief Olise said, “this is interesting, we are wishing Fr. John Konyeke, our amiable Spiritual Adviser a very successful outing in this event.

“Fr. Konyeke is spiritually and physically fit for the finals of this tournament and this is coming few weeks to the Year 2025 edition of Maris Annual Public Service Lecture, so, we pray that God will grant him a successful outing.”
