OUT of the 11, 450, 247 COVID-19 cases in the world, South Africa is toping the list among African countries with 196,750 cases and 3,199 deaths, followed by Nigeria that has 28,711 cases and 645 deaths while Ghana recorded 20,085 cases and 122 deaths.

Newsden.com.ng reports that as at Monday morning, Delta had 1, 227 recorded cases.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, his wife, Edith and one of his daughters were reported to be undergoing treatment after testing positive to the rampaging virus.

Also, Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, Bauchi Governor and his Deputy, Bala Mohammed and Baba Tela respectively, Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai of Kaduna State, and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, wife of Benue State Governor, Mrs. Eunice Ortom, her son, and some of her aides had tested positive for COVID-19.

While some of them have been discharged, others were still receiving treatments, urging their supporters not to despair as they were responding positively to treatment.

Among those who survived COVID-19 were, Chief Austin Eruotor, 29-year old Oluwaseun Ayodeji Osowobi, Emeka Asika, 35-year old Salihu Umar, and Barr. Jerry Azinge.

However, such personalities like, former Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, former Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, former managing director of Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), Sulaiman Achimugu, younger wife of Oladipo Diya, a retired army general and second in command to late former Head of State, Sani Abacha, Ola Diya, Dan Foster, Nigeria-based African American popular radio presenter and broadcaster, the Grand President of Benin Grand Commandery of Knights of St. John’s International (KSJI), Brig. Gen.(Noble) Sylvester Isidahome Egbase and his wife, Lady Egbase, Sir and Lady Origbe, among numerous others passed on due to COVID-19 related ailments.
