THE Chairman, Delta State Primary Health Care Development Board, Dr. Mrs. Isioma Okobah, has called for synergy between the Local Government Service Commission and the Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency to achieve Universal Health Coverage.
Dr. Okobah made the call on Wednesday when she led board and management of Primary Healthcare Development Agency on advocacy visit to the Local Government Service Commission.
Okobah said, in order to achieve quality effective, efficient and affordable healthcare services mostly for rural dwellers, there is need for synergy between the Agency and the local government service commission.
The Board Chairman, noted the pivotal roles local government health workers play in the primary health centers, stating that they are in the grassroot.
She appealed to the chairman to address discipline among health workers.
Responding, the Chairman, Local Government Service commission, Hon. Joseph Otirhue, said, he understands the importance of primary health care centres to the life of the people as he was once a local government chairman.
He said Governor Okowa desire of universal health coverage for Deltans through the Primary health centers is on course with the deployment of Executive Secretary as medical Officers of Health in the Local Government Areas.
While Promising the support of the local government service commission in improving the services of the Primary health centres, Hon. Otirhue said the issue of manpower, human resources and indiscipline will be addressed.
