THE National President of Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU), Barrister Titus Akpudo has offered thanksgiving to God for a successful election and his emergence as the National President of the association.

Our correspondent reports that the thanksgiving mass, which took place at Saint Edwards Catholic Church Eziowelle, Idemili North Council Area, attracted top government officials, the traditional ruler of Eziowelle, Igwe Okonkwo Etusi, Members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Ndi Eziowelle and members of the association, family and friends of Barrister Akpudo.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Willie Obiano described ASATU as the fourth tier of government in the State and thanked God for the various things he is using the association to do in the State and commended the excelling spirit found in Akpudo, which he said  earned him the position.

Chief Obiano asked him to use his youthful energy to ensure that there is peace, stability and unity among all the PGs and in areas where the PGs and traditional rulers are having differences for more development and progress to come into the State.

Earlier in a homily, the Parish Priest of the Church, Reverend Father Christopher Odumegwu, said interpretation of experiences of life will help one to make out the best in life and be positive with whatsoever situation that arises.

He urged Barrister Akpudo to apply wisdom, fear of God and honesty in carrying out his duties.

Speaking to newsmen after the thanksgiving the former Senator that represented Anambra Central Senatorial District, Chief Victor Umeh, reminded Barrister Akpudo as the leader of all PGs that the development and progress of all the communities in the State lie in his hands.

Senator Umeh charged him to be just in his dealings, lead without fear or favour, so as to get things right, stating that the State being transformed by the APGA government of the Obiano administration should be preserved.

In their various speeches at the  reception organized for the celebrant by the family and Ndi Eziowelle, the Special Adviser to the Governor Obiano on Local Government Affairs, Chief Alex Onukwue and the Youth Leader of Eziowelle Community, Chief Emeka Okoye-Ozor, described Barrister Akpudo as an advocate in ASATU, who has taken bold steps in repositioning the Town Unions, starting with setting up of Reconciliation Committee to ensure that peace dwells among all the communities in the State.

While thanking and promising to make God his pillar in the new office, Barrister Akpudo, commended the giant strides of Governor Willie Obiano-led administration, pledging the association’s total support to him.

Other dignitaries in attendance at the event include the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemmili North Local Government Area, Barrister Asha Nnabuife, the former House of Representatives member for Idemmili North and South Federal Constituency, Chief Ifeanyi Ibezim, State President of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Emeka Udodeme and host of others, while special thanksgiving by Akpudo’s family and warm receptions formed the high points.
