Ashibogwu Calls For Team Work Among CIEs

The Delta State Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, has urged Chief Inspectors of Education (CIEs) in the 25 local government areas to discharge their duties with honesty and accountability and embrace team work.

Dr. Ashibogwu gave the charge during an interactive session with the CIEs in Asaba in preparation for the 2024/2025 Academic Session billed to commence in September .

He said that the purpose of the interactive session was to remind them of their core duties as educationists , adding that as the representatives of the Ministry at the local government level, they should be committed to their responsibility.

Dr. Ashibogwu , who told the CIEs to ensure cordial working relationship with stakeholders in their LGAs , reminded them that they should always be good ambassadors of the Ministry and thus, deliver their assignment with high level of integrity.

He warned against extorting parents for admission of their children in the forthcoming academic calendar, stressing that admission was free just as he enjoined them to pass the information to all school heads in their local government areas.

While admonishing them to sustain the tempo of successes they had recorded in the last academic session, Ashibogwu also that said that his Ministry would ensure uniformity in all its examination timetable.

In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary in Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro explained that with the termination of the third term of the last academic session, the meeting was crucial as a prelude to the commencement of the 2024/2025 academic session.

Oghoro said that the Ministry of Primary Education has continued to prioritize their welfare, emphasizing that they should be more dedicated to their duty as the 2024/2025 academic session set to begin in September.

He noted that heads of schools should relate with their host communities to ensure that school facilities were secured and hinted that school calendar would soon be out .

Earlier in their various remarks, some of the Chief Inspectors of Education(CIEs) who spoke, including the Chairperson of the CIEs forum, Mrs. M. A Omagbemi, the CUE for Warri South, Dr. Samson Agbejeh , the CIE for Uvwie, Chief (Mrs ) Vera Asini, the CIE for Ethiope West, Mrs. Toju Egere , CIE for Ukwuani, Mr. Samuel Egara , Ika South, Mr. Enahoro Idume, Isoko South Mr. Ekuevugbe Adeda, and their colleague in charge of Ethiope East, Mr. Joseph Eghwujovwo ,among others lauded the Commissioner and the Permanent Secretary for consistently interfacing with the CIEs with a view to appraising their strength and weaknesses.

They presented their challenges in their various offices to the Commissioner, saying that they were in good working relationship with their local government areas.

The CIEs for Ethiope East , Mr. Joseph Eghwujovwo, Isoko North , Mr. Onoriode Zerigbe and their counterpart for Oshimili North, Mrs. Roseline Anya used the opportunity to thank the Ministry for providing a befitting office accomodation for them .

In attendance were the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Comr. Ernest Ossai, the Director of Examinations, Mrs. Clementina Ojumah, Director of Science Education, Mrs. Hope Igumbor , Director of Schools, Funmi Winifred Ighawvota, director of Education Resource Centre, Mrs. Eguono Temiagin , Director, Agency for Adult and Non-Formal Education, Mr. Anthony Akponovo, the Director of administration in the Ministry, Mr. Benard Onyebuke and their counterpart in charge of Finance and Accounts (Primary Education), Mr. Okpan Awhotu as well as deputy directors in Ministry of Primary Education.
