Bayoko, Others Take Oath As Justices Of Peace

DELTA State Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Reginald Bayoko, has been sworn-in as Justice of Peace (JP).

Bayoko, was among prominent Deltans who were sworn-in as justices of the peace (JPs) on Monday, in Asaba, Delta State.

The Chief Judge of the state, Justice Marshal Umukoro, represented by Justice Theresa Diai, while administering the relevant oath of office on the newly appointed Justices of the Peace, congratulated the JPs, drawn from various walk of life, adding that their nomination was based on their impeccable records of community service and desire to promote peace in the state.

The Chief Judge, charged the appointees to work assiduously to entrench justice and peace in their respective domains of duty as well as their communities.

Mukoro, also, advised them to be transparent, and be seen to be fair and transparent in their actions and decisions at all times.

The Head of Service, Bayoko, who spoke on behalf of the inductees, thanked the state government for finding them worthy for the prestigious title of JP.

Bayoko, said that it was a call to higher duty, adding that he had always been a lover and promoter of peace and promised that their appointment and subsequent swearing in would certainly spur them to do more so as to sustain the existing peace in the state.

Also speaking after the event, Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Communications, Barr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, who was also, among those who took oath as JP, said, “The governor’s remarkable performance in peace building and security in the state is worthy of commendation and emulation. Justices of the peace have enormous roles to play in assisting the governor and the judiciary as officers of Courts to promote peace and justice; especially in the area of Alternative Dispute Resolutions, ADR, compel appropriate person(s)to appear as witness in court, and to assist the courts to ensure that justice is not only served but seen to have been served in all cases, adding that he will abide to the Oath of Office and Oath of Allegiance as a JP.

“I thank my boss the Governor for yet another appointment and this time as a quasi judicial officer, to assist the judiciary and government to promote and achieve peaceful coexistence in the state.

“I must not fail to thank the Honourable Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General of the State, Peter Mrakpor, SAN, my Lord the Chief Judge, Honourable Justice Marshall Umukoro and the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Chiedu Ebie, Esq for the various roles they played to drive the process to fruition.

“As a Barrister at Law and Justice of the Peace, I will do the needful whenever the need arises, and to use my office appropriately as directed by the Governor and my Lord the Chief Justice, to promote peace and justice in my community and in the state.”

Among those sworn-in were the Commissioner for Trade Investment in the state, Hon. Chika Ossai, Director of Protocols, Hon. Ifeanyi Eboigbe, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Okowa, Ambassador Hope George, SSA Orientation to the Governor, Olorogun Godspower Ashiuwu, HRM, King Monday Whiskey, Udurhie1, the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, some members of the State House of Assembly, serving commissioners, permanent secretaries, captains of jndustries, journalists and youth leaders.
