BOKO HARAM: Police Beef Up Security In FCT

DUE to fear that the Boko Haram terror group had concluded plans to cause mayhem in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, has said,  proactive intelligence gathering mechanism and crime fighting measures have been deployed to beef up security in the territory.

An internal memo of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), signed by the Deputy Comptroller (Enforcement Headquarters) and dated August 20, said: “Information reaching the Comptroller-General of Customs (C66) reveals the existence of Boko Hamm Terrorist Camps (BHTs) in and around the Federal Capital Territory.

“Further reports have it that they are planning to attack some selected targets within the territory.

“They are reported to have set up their camps in the following identified enclaves;

The memo was leaked to the public on Saturday and it caused panic among residence of the FCT.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Anjuguri Manzah in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, urged residents of the territory to report any suspicious persons or activities in and around their neighbourhoods at the nearest Police Division.

The PPRO said such persons could also be reported through any of the FCT Police Command Control numbers on 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883.

He assured the public that the Police has taken measures to ensure their safety.
