The General Overseer of Tree of Life Gospel Ministry, Nanka, Anambra State, Reverend Dr. Dada Obi, has appeal to Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, not to ignore journalists in his administration, as they are essential part of a democratic society.
Rev. Obi, who is also a Patron of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State Council, made the appealed when the Executive members of NUJ in the State led by Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu paid him a solidarity visit in his home at Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area of the State.
While describing Governor Soludo as a renowned economist and intellectual, whose vision is to make Anambra a prosperous homeland, he urged him to give needed attention to journalists in the State, to help project his administration in a limelight.
According to him, information is power, Journalists can build and equally destroy. They should always be carrying along in the affairs of governance. They are mouthpiece of the society. I have had complains in some quarters that the present administration of Prof. Soludo, has not appoint a Chief Press Secretary (CPS), to enable Journalists in the State feel a sense of belonging. So, I appealed to the Governor to make Journalists is best friends for the better Anambra of his Vision 2070.
Rev. Obi praised the critical role journalists play in the society, adding that NUJ, with herculean and sensitive job, has done tremendously well for the progress of the State.
Dr. Obi thanked the State Executive Council of NUJ for their visit, promised to give maximum support to the union, and called for unity of purpose among them.
The General Overseer used the opportunity to call for the promotion of Igbo culture and tradition, in order not to allow it go into extinction.
Earlier, the Anambra State Chairman of the Union, Dr. Odogwu explained that the aim of the visit was to pay homage and solidarity to one of their respected Patrons and Spiritual Leader, whose humanitarian acts he said have continued to touch lives of Nanka Community and beyond.
