The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, on Sunday, gave reasons why the All Progressives Congress (APC) should be embraced by the people.

Addressing members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC) and members of other political parties at the Nkwor Square, Onicha-Ukwuani, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, Sir Onyeme stated that political party is about the people.

“As an individual, you all know me as Sir Monday Onyeme, as a member of the All Progressives Congress, you know that I will protect the interest of our people.

“Since 1999, the PDP has been in the saddle of leadership of the state but political party is the vehicle for which we ensure good governance, attract democratic dividends to our people.

“We used the PDP as a platform but since 2015, PDP lost out at the Federal Level, so, what is important is getting good representation for our people and the PDP is lying comatose in the country.

“At present most of us do not know who are members of the Executive Committee of the PDP, so, we have decided to be members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which has more promising outlook of delivering democratic dividends to our people.

“For electoral purposes, the Secretary of the party must sign the nomination form and at present, we do not know who is the authentic Secretary of the PDP, so, in all, instead of drifting as members of the PDP, we have decided to join the APC.

“Today, all Deltans have moved into the APC, whether political appointee or holding political office, we decided to move into the APC, which is a very good decision.

“In any case, some of our brothers and sisters who were angry in the PDP, moved to the APC and now that we all have moved to the APC, there is no one in any opposition political parties in our state, we all are members of the APC,” the Deputy Governor said.

Some of those who spoke at the occasion, including Ogbuiji Augustine Chukwuma said, “our son and brother, Sir Onyeme, you are our ear, our eye and our voice, we believe in your representation, so, since you have said that we should join APC, we are all members of the APC.

“Go and tell the world that Onicha-Ukwuani, Ward 5 is one hundred percent APC and we will deliver President Bola Tinubu and all APC candidates in 2027, congratulations our leader.”

Some of those who attended the meeting that was turned to a mini political rally included Sir Christopher Osakwe, Chief Anslem Nzete, Comrade Joshua Opia, Chief Lucky Ossai, Chief Martin Ijomor, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo and Mr Meshack Okonye.
