DICON @ 60: 3,000 local, international participants expected to grace event says Matawalle

The Minister State for Defence , Dr Bello Matawalle, has said that fewer than 3,000 local and international participants are expected at the 60th anniversary of the Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria (DICON).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event is scheduled for Aug. 14 and Aug. 15 in Abuja.

This is contained in a statement on Friday, in Abuja, by Mr Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Information and Public Relations of the ministry.

Matawalle said that the event would bring together the largest defence industry stakeholders in Nigeria and Africa.

According to him, DICON’s 60th Anniversary celebration will showcase its achievements and innovations as well as strengthen relationships among stakeholders.

He added that the theme of the anniversary celebration was “Future Frontiers in Africa’s Defence Technology”.

The minister also said that the event would focus on investment opportunities, industrial partnerships and future developments in the African defence industry.

“It will also feature a distinguished faculty of knowledgeable speakers and resource persons from within and outside Africa.

“The Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR will be the Special Guest of Honour for the 60th anniversary celebrations and opening ceremony of the maiden African Defence Industries Conference on Aug. 14,” he said.

Matawalle said that in view of this, reputable companies/organisations, defence industry stakeholders, government officials, Military personnel, commercial exhibitors and industry leaders are invited to participate in celebrating DICON @60 anniversary and maiden Africa Defence Industries Conference.
