THE Governor of Edo State and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the ongoing Edo State gubernatorial election, Godwin Obaseki and his wife have cast their votes.
Also, his main rival of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osagie Ize-Iyamu has also cast his vote.
Obaseki spent more than one hour on the queue before casting his vote polling unit 19, ward 04 Oredo Local Government Area, while Ize-Iyamu voted at Ugboko, ward 4, unit 26, Orhionmwon Local Government Council.
Former Governor Lucky Igbinedion and businessman, Captain Okunbor Hosa, voted at Oredo Ward 2 at George Idah Model Primary School, Ihama, GRA, Benin City.
Voting in some areas commenced as early at 9 am while in Esan West and Esan Central Local Government Areas, Card Readers easily identified the voter cards, but failed to authenticate their fingerprints.
Obaseki however, noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not show that it was well prepared for the election.
According to him, “I expected that INEC would have prepared better for this election.
“I waited for one and half hours on the queue before exercising my franchise, it’s a beat disappointing.
“Giving that this is a sole day election, I expected a better planning for this election.
“Card readers were very slow and that’s the situation everywhere.”
