The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has described education as the corner stone of any prosperous society.

Speaking on Wednesday at the donation of books and other writing materials to Erhavwen Primary School, Erhavwen in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Governor Oborevwori who was represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, emphasized that education is a powerful tool that can be used to transform society and commended Adesuwa-Uadiale Foundation, a non government organization for donating the materials as part of its “back to school programme.”

“It is with great pleasure and a sense of profound hope for our future that I stand before you today to appreciate what the Adesuwa-Uadiale Foundation is doing to encourage education and the well-being of our children in secondary schools.

“In our state, through the execution of the MORE Agenda of we have seen the education sector getting deserved attention in the provision of infrastructure, employment of teachers, and generally, making available teaching aids, this is because, we believe that every child, regardless of their background or circumstance, deserves access to quality education.

“I am aware that the foundation apart from donating books and writing materials, has also, sunk borehole and provided facilities to add to the overall cleanliness and safety of students in this school which all of us can arrest to the fact that it is clean and conducive for learning.

“​The books and writing materials donated today are gateways to knowledge, imagination, and critical thinking.

​”I want to use this opportunity to acknowledge the vital role that NGOs play in the development of our state.

“The government cannot do it all alone; the work you do in complementing our efforts is invaluable; your passion, dedication, and selfless service are what makes a real difference on the ground.

“​To the students here today, I urge you to take full advantage of this generous gift; let these books be your friends and your mentors, read them with curiosity and an open mind; let them inspire you to ask questions, to seek out new information, and to become lifelong learners.

“The future of our state is in your hands, and your education is the key to unlocking that future.

“​Finally, I call on all well-meaning individuals, corporate organizations, and community leaders to emulate the kind gesture of Adesuwa-Uadiale Foundation.

“Let us all work together to support education and empower the next generation.

“Our collective efforts can create a legacy of knowledge that will benefit our state for generations to come.”

Earlier, the Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibuogwu, said that the state primary education, “is build upon infrastructure, effective teaching and learning, by providing good teachers, free health services, and provision of facilities that will help the child to grow.”

The Chairman, Delta State Universal Primary Education Board, (SUBEB), Hon. Samuel Mariere, commended leaders of the community and the teachers of the school for making the community and school very orderly, while the school facilities are all intact.

This he attributed to effective collaboration between the community and the school authority.

The founder of the NGO, Dr. Mrs Enojare Uadiale in her address read by her husband, Prof. Michael Uadiale, said that the foundation is to plant seeds of hope for children.

She noted that it was her desire to see children stay sharp through learning, be obedient to good advice and never stop writing their incredible stories.

Earlier, in a brief remark about the foundation, Barr. Pagaebi Beregha, noted that, the Adesuwa-Uadiale Foundation was founded by Dr. Enojare Uvwo-Uadiale, a humanitarian, ordained minister and visionary leader whose life’s work is devoted to faith, service and legacy.

She said that together with her husband, Prof. Michael Uadiale, the foundation was in honour of their late daughter Adesuwa, adding that through the foundation, thousands of children have received backpacks, school supplies, food and encouragement to dream again.
